John Elliott + Kelly McFarling + Logan Magness: 6.17.17
John Elliott first visited with us in June 2014, before there was even an official Folk All Y'all to visit, and the experience was so wonderful that I wanted to repeat it as often as I could manage. That's meant bringing in artists from all over the world, from Boston to Tulsa to San Francisco to Berlin, to perform for the good people of Memphis. So it seems only fitting that the person who started it all would be the one to celebrate our third birthday with us and usher in the next year of Folk All Y'all. And John, well. I've been following his musical career since he was a footman in our high school production of Cinderella. He followed me to college, where he had the audacity to be more talented and successful than I was, and then he spent the next 20 years devoted to making a life with his music, creatively and independently. He writes so smart and plays so deep. I can't wait to see him again. Oh, and also watch him perform. We've come a long way from the backyard (and Backyards), and on this trip he'll be joined by a fleet of San Francisco musicians - including Memphis ex-pat Logan Magnesss - and native-Atlantan Kelly McFarling, who'll be bringing her contemporary spin on old-timey jams or old-timey spin on contemporary jams, depending on how you look at it. JOHN AND KELLY AND LOGAN SOUND GREAT! HOW DO I SEE THEM? John, Kelly & Co. are coming by Saturday, June 17th. Doors will open at 7:00 for socializing with music starting promptly at 7:30 pm. This is a privately hosted event, so please request an invitation to attend. The suggested (minimum!) donation for this event is $20, all of which will go directly to the artists. It's a party, so delicious food, adult beverages, and copacetic company will be provided. Already a confirmed guest?
