Myla Smith + The Harmaleighs: 5.13.17

I've made some mistakes in my life, but one of the most embarrassing is that I've been presenting house shows for three years and haven't hosted a Memphis woman yet. To be fair, I wasn't originally planning to host Memphians at all, but I guess the ladies have been more attentive to my online request not to ask about gigs, so I went out and pestered Myla myself. I'm thrilled that I'm able to collaborate with an amazing talent (and new mom!) for a show that's exactly what we both need. From Shake Rag, Tennessee to Barney & Friends to a degree in Accounting, Myla Smith doesn't fit any preconceived notions you have about singer-songwriters (okay, except the Shake Rag part), but if there's anything we know in Memphis, it's that you just never can tell. Myla's spent the last decade winning hearts all over Memphis and beyond, with her latest release praised by Billboard and CMT. As the world gathers in our city to celebrate music from across the globe, we'll be having Myla in May - a much more comfortable but no less powerful representation of Memphis' musical contributions. And as an added bonus, we'll also be joined by Nashville duo The Harmaleighs, who've spent the last year logging miles and Spotify features as they prepare to celebrate the release of their new album, Hiraeth. The title is a Welsh word meaning "longing for a home," so what better place to welcome their new project into the world? MYLA AND THE HARMALEIGHS SOUND GREAT! HOW DO I SEE THEM? This show will be Saturday, May 13th, with doors opening at 7:00 and music starting PROMPTLY at 7:30. This is a privately hosted event, so please email rsvp@folkallyall.com to request an invitation and get location details. The suggested (minimum!) donation for this event is $20, all of which will go directly to the artists. It’s a party, so delicious food, beverages, and copacetic company will be provided. Go here to make a donation*   *Please keep in mind that if you donate in advance or at the event, your donation is non-refundable. It is not a ticket. It is a freewill offering and not a direct exchange for goods or services. All event donations go directly to the artist immediately after their appearances, whether you're there or not.
