One of the fun things I get to do as a host through Concerts In Your Home is evaluate artists who are auditioning to join this network of house show presenters and performers. After reviewing each submission, we're asked for a final opinion on whether the artist should be accepted, with answers ranging from "No" to "Strong Yes."I see artists from all over the country, in every career stage imaginable, and I have to admit, I'm a pretty tough judge. A lot of my evaluations end up in the "Not Sure" to "Yes" categories, so it's a rare and memorable pleasure when I click that "Strong Yes" button. When I clicked it for Kevin Campbell, that didn't feel quite strong enough, so I followed it up with an offer to come play for us if he ever found his way out of L.A. Lucky for us, this apparent Angeleno is secretly Southern, and we were able to set up a show along his path home to Virginia. I can't wait to introduce Memphis to his blend of folk, soul, and blues, all delivered with self-deprecating charm and humor. Are y'all going to love it? It’s a party, so delicious food, adult beverages, and copacetic company will be provided.
