John Paul Keith: 5.7.16
I don't even know where to begin with John Paul Keith. Apparently his tremendous talent can't be constrained to one thing - not heading a band as badass as the One Four Fives, or serving as a musical ambassador via Beale Street Caravan's Made in Memphis segment, or bandleading Thacker Mountain Radio's Yalobushwhackers, or partnering to create Motel Mirrors with fellow Memphian Amy LaVere. No, he does all that, and probably even more that I don't know about, all while consistently cranking out songs that envelop and exhilarate the local scene, musical and otherwise. Folk All Y'all's stated purpose is to help out-of-towners try to grasp our ridiculously high bar and I don't seek out Memphis musicians to play for us, but I have to confess that I have a secret list of artists I'd never turn down. John Paul Keith has always had a spot on that list, so when he asked about bringing his stellar songwriting, "Fender-twang pop," and inimitable performance style to us, the deal was as good as done. Come on over for a one-of-a-kind show, up close and personal with an artist too good to be from anywhere else (okay, fine, he's from Knoxville, but he's ours now!). UPDATE: WE'RE ALL FULL UP!
