Garrison Starr: 10.4.17
When I first got involved in Memphis' music scene, there were a lot of local songwriters who deserved to be known, but only a few who were clearly forging a path outside of the delta. Much like the superheroine of her anthemic song, Garrison Starr seemed to be shooting straight up and outta here, and in the years since she haunted the Hi-Tone, she's moved out to L.A., upped her album count to 15, wrote songs for a bunch of Hollywood stuff, got nominated for a Grammy, and inspired a lot of Smart Girls. But luckily for us, she loves Memphis as much as we love her, so we're honored to present Garrison Starr as the first guest of our newly launched listening room series and her own homecoming royalty. I LOVE GARRISON! HOW DO I HEAR HER? Well, we've changed things up around here. Instead of just RSVPing for a show, we're now selling tickets and, BONUS, telling you where it's going to be! Our listening rooms will migrate to locations throughout Memphis, and our first one will be in the friendly confines of DCA (home of our Bobby Bare Jr. show) on historic South Main Street. We'll also have some fun surprises for this kickoff show, so come see what the new Folk All Y'all is about. So:GARRISON STARRWednesday, Oct. 4thFolk All Y'all Listening Room at DCA431 S.
