David Wilcox: 3.8.18
This series has gone through a lot of changes since we first welcomed David Wilcox in 2014. I remember nervously scrambling to put this very website together so we'd look official even though it was only the second show I'd ever presented. I stole the name Folk All Y'all from a WEVL on-air host application I'd never submitted (because I didn't think I'd have enough time to commit to a radio show - ha!). I created Twitter and Facebook pages and pleaded for follows. About 70 people RSVP'd. I hoped 50 would come. Somehow 80 did. After that first (more-than-)sold-out show, David's come back and played four more. It's hard to explain what it's like to have an artist whose work you've carried in your heart for decades become part of your actual life. Whenever I've felt a little overwhelmed by everything I've taken on to make this series happen, I'm always lifted up by the surreal joy of seeing David pull into the driveway to play some songs. And after he's stuck with us for so long, I'm thrilled to welcome David Wilcox to our new listening room format and a whole new space. We'll have more details on that second part later, but I can tell you it's going to be wonderful to come back together with David in a room that reflects how much Folk All Y'all has evolved over the last few years.I LOVE DAVID! HOW DO I SEE HIM?David Wilcox will be coming back to Memphis on Thursday, March 8th. Doors will open at 7pm with music starting at 7:30. Unlike previous shows, this one will be public and ticketed, but just like before, space will be limited and all seats will be $40. We will be at our listening room at 11 W. Huling in Downtown Memphis. Here's where to get tickets.(David's been playing for us since before I knew to hold the camera horizontally...)
