Daniel Champagne: 4.13.17
I get a lot of questions about how I choose artists to perform. There's a pretty even mix of hunting and gathering going on, with me actively seeking some artists and then accepting requests from those who've contacted me. Just for fun, I thought you might like to experience the process I went through when considering our latest booking. It was a lot like this ... [I get email notification that I have an artist inquiry from ConcertsInYourHome.com] [I click artist profile and play sample video] "Oh. Wow. Wow! This is really lovely." [I read bio] "An Australian living in Nashville? That's awesome. How many Facebook likes does he ... oh, wow!" [I search YouTube for more videos] "HOLY CRAP. This is amazing. A. Mayyyy. Zing." [Faint briefly. Come to. Respond to artist inquiry with enthusiastic YES.] [When I don't get a reply within 30 minutes, look up artist's agent info and email her directly, begging to host a show.] [Sit impatiently for several hours refreshing my email inbox like a nervous teenager if teenagers still emailed.] [Get a response. Do a little dance.] [Send YouTube links to everyone I know just so I can say "I KNOW, RIGHT?!"] [Spend the next three weeks working with the agent to figure out a date that won't require waiting an entire year because I'm reasonably afraid he'll get astronomically famous before then and will have to cancel to be on an arena tour.] [BOOK IT!] And that, friends, is how we came to host Daniel Champagne. I realize he's not as well known in Memphis as in Melbourne, but I am wholly confident that once you take a listen, you'll understand exactly why I lost my damn mind trying to make this happen. Because good gravy, he is something else. A vocal warmth and sensitivity that completely draws you in, songwriting so good it seems a little unfair, and fall-to-your-knees-in-awe musicianship. And the accent doesn't hurt, either. I can hardly wait until April. I feel a little like I'm walking around with a winning lottery ticket and I'm afraid it will blow away before I get to the Kwik-Chek. HOLY CRAP, YOU'RE RIGHT ABOUT DANIEL. HOW DO I SEE HIM?UPDATE: We're all full up for this show! But don't give up hope! You can still email rsvp@folkallyall.com to get on the waiting list and we'll let you know if a spot opens up.
